Sunrise Supported Living Open Day - Saturday the 19th of November 2011

As promised, Sunrise Supported Living, Tuncurry certainly was spreading the Magic with 20 Hot Rods and Custom Cars for all to view proudly showing on behalf of the Manning Valley Cruzer Club. They took over the Village car park like a scene out of ‘Happy Days’ and soon became like family to our residents. Adding to the theme was Rocking Reg who did not disappoint, with his full rock ‘n’ roll costume we were taken back to a time where we drank milk shakes and the ladies wore polka dot dresses with dance demonstrations during the day it was good to see my own mother have a little twist! Good on you Mum!

Great Lakes sustainability project officer April McKay had plenty of information on measuring the energy usage in your home and we were pleasantly surprised that the Great Lakes Library has equipment that you can loan to test your own usage.

Our Special Guest and State Member Mr Steve Bromhead made an appearance with his wife Susan, who sat with village residents and visitors whilst enjoying the gorgeous weather we had. Mr BromHead spoke on the need for villages like Sunrise Supported Living and the aging population. We even celebrated one of our resident’s birthdays.

Five months ago I took the honor of working with a great team here at Sunrise Supported Living, Tuncurry and together we have made it THE place to be if you’re thinking of ageing in place with on site dignified care.
